PTE Academic practice tests

Designed around the current PTE Academic structure, timing and question types: Speaking and Writing, Reading and Listening, about two hours in all, scored 10–90. That includes Summarize Group Discussion and Respond to a Situation, the two speaking tasks added for tests from 7 August 2025.

How the scores compare

Pearson scores PTE Academic by combining automated scoring with human rating for some responses. The score report from a TestPrep practice test is an estimate on the same 10–90 scale, not a Pearson score.

The current PTE format

PTE Academic is a computer-based English test of about two hours in three parts: Speaking and Writing (76–84 minutes), Reading (23–30 minutes) and Listening (31–39 minutes). The overall score runs from 10 to 90. Two speaking tasks, Summarize Group Discussion and Respond to a Situation, were added for tests from 7 August 2025, and some responses are now partly scored by human raters.
