IB Computer Science
Programming, algorithms, data structures, and computational thinking.
IB Computer Science develops computational thinking and problem-solving skills through programming and the study of computer systems. Students learn to design solutions, analyze algorithms, and understand the societal impact of technology. The current course was first assessed in May 2027 and can be studied in Python or Java.

Why CS Matters
Your grade in IB Computer Science counts toward the 45-point Diploma, and many university courses ask for a particular grade in the subject, often at Higher Level.

SL covers two themes, concepts of computer science and computational thinking and problem-solving, plus a case study, in 150 hours.
HL studies each topic in more depth, adds abstract data types and more object-oriented programming, and spends longer on the case study, in 240 hours.
